Tuxedo pants are having a moment, but you don't need to be heading to a black tie affair for this crop of slacks! Countless celebrities have been seen rocking the stripe trend: Kim Kardashian and Olivia Palermo just to name a couple. I'm also really excited about this trend because I've already seen some great pairs popping up in my local TJ Maxx! There's nothing I love more than indulging in a trend- without feeling like I've indulged! In case your TJ's doesn't have them- here are some other budget friendly colorblock options options!

It's started. It unavoidably happens every year. Right around this time, as soon as the temperatures start to drop... just a little... I get an uncontrollable urge...to buy some boots! Despite my big enthusiasm, I have a small budget, so I'm forced to carefully curate my collection of kicks each season. A few days ago I spotted a shot of Blake Lively on the set of Gossip Girl in the most perfect pair of boots! Casual for strolling around but trendy enough to give you some street cred- these babies are it! Problem? They are way beyond my meager budget. Solution? Find some look-a-likes! I admit, no boots of any quality are ever going to be cheap, but the styles I've found are similar enough and cost effective enough to give you the look, and last more than one season.

Is there anything more wonderful than the Monday morning after an awards show? Well, coffee for one- but still, it's pretty high up there! I love clicking through endless photo galleries of glamorous celebrities and straight up haute messes! Like a moth to a flame, I am generally drawn to head to toe shiny numbers, but there was a noticeable lack of those at the 64th Prime-time Emmy Awards. So, I went with my runner-up fashion fave- color! Julie Bowen tops my list of best dressed this year. Her fitted Monique Lhuillier gown was a show stopper- and the yellow is surprising chic! Love! I also (shockingly) really like Hayden Panettierre's dress. I say shockingly because I normally don't like her, or her look, but this gown by Marchesa is gorgeous. Check out the clip below of me and my blogger buddies Audrey McClelland and Andrea McHugh on this morning's The Rhode Show talking about our other fashion faves and flops- including Ashley Judd (what the...???).

I've always been kind of a hat girl. By that I mean: I always buy hats, convinced that my life will not go on without them, then watch them sit in my closet for years, unworn. This fall, I am making a resolution to wear more hats, end of story! I think where I've gone wrong in the past is that I always go for the most trendy style instead of the most wearable. So what is the most wearable hat in the world? A baseball cap! No, no- keep reading! Come on, you know I'm not going to put a baseball cap on a fashion blog, but with a few stylish tweaks the cap can become very chic, and still very wearable. I can envision myself on weekends, walking around, drinking a chai latte, window shopping, head adorned with a sporty but sophisticated cap. Best part? Hats are budget friendly way to add a little something extra to your look. Throw on some big old shades, and no one will be able to tell if you spent hours getting ready, or 5 minutes.
While incredibly exciting for fashionistas, the transition to fall can be quite difficult to navigate. Cold in the morning, warm by the afternoon... I mean even if you have a meteorologist in your pocket, you could still have a tough time deciding what to wear! The key here is layers, but I've never really been a fan of outerwear that you have to commit to. My solution? A moto jacket. It works both indoors and out, and always looks cool. Just as easy to wear over dresses with jeans; make this your go-to before we break out the parkas.

I know I am sounding like a broken record here, but I am SO into leather (or faux as the case may be) right now. I am truly seeing it everywhere and on everything. The other day I picked up a cardigan with a faux leather sleeve. I mean, insta-chic! Of course celebs are rocking their hundred or thousand dollar designer leather goods, but truly there are so many affordable options for similar looks, it seems a sin to be paying so much! If you're wondering how to wear this often misunderstood material, take a cue from Elizabeth Olsen. A leather pencil skirt is nothing but total elegance! Or if you're looking for a more playful look, try a pleated mini or circle skirt like Kim Kardashian- just make sure to go covered up on top with a shorter skirt. Keep it ladylike, ladies! PS- check out some other great faux leather pieces in the post below!

One of my very favorite people, Nicole Richie, is taking her trendy/bohemian style to the masses! In a collaboration with Macy's the designer has created a lust-worthy limited collection at reasonable price points! From studded leggings to feminine dresses these looks really run the gamut! My favorites are the faux-leather ensems... on-trend and on budget! Here are some of my favorite looks below!
Check out this segment we did on The Rhode Show - previewing some of Nicole Richie's Macy's looks! You can see them better than in the pictures!
Did you catch the premiere of the show "New Normal'? I have to admit it was pretty funny! I especially liked the acting debut of Atlanta "Real Housewife" Nene Leakes. What made just as big of an impact as her short appearance, was her trench coat! I actually featured the coat in a previous post back in March. Unfortunately, it's currently sold out, but here are some other fab options!

It's time to take a trip to Never Never Land, where kids never have to grow up! Now that I'm an adult, I appreciate that notion more than ever, and I'm pleased to know that I can do it by donning a simple accessory! OK, so that's not exactly how it works, but the "peter pan collar" necklace is kind of magical! It's like adding insta-polish to your look! You can literally glam up an entire outfit by adding one accessory. Now if only this enchanted necklace could make me as skinny as TinkerBell...
I'm so excited that the new Fall TV season is upon us! In just weeks I'll be hanging in the Upper East Side with the Gossip Girls , travelin' down to Dixie with Zoe Hart and fighting off the rain in Seattle with the doomed doctors of Grey's Anatomy. But, I may be most excited of all for the premiere of Mindy Kaling's new show, The Mindy Project. I became kind of obsessed with Mindy Kaling a few months ago after reading her hilarious book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)". It is seriously funny. Like laugh out loud on a plane sitting next to a stranger funny. Fast forward to now, where for some reason I feel like I know Mindy and she is my friend and thus can't wait for my best friend's show to premiere! It doesn't hurt that the main character (Mindy aka my best friend) has an affinity for sparkles, like myself. If you've seen the promo for The Mindy Project then you've seen her sparkly blue sequin dress. It's a custom made by designer Alysia Raycraft, but you can easily replicate the look.
