I've mentioned it more than a couple times, but I have a deep love for Nicole Richie. I crave to be as cool as she is: adorably cute, yet sharply funny and of course now, a fashion powerhouse. Like many, I can't afford her label "Winter Kate" on a regular basis (but watch out when there is a flash sale!) which is why I was so excited when she partnered with Macy's for a capsule collection. Her dress is the focus of today's outfit post. I love everything about it: the pretty peacock print, flouncy skirt, sheer sleeves and lace side inserts- it's just downright fun! I loved it so much I even included it in one of my guest posts for SheKnows.com- check it out here! I added a Mongolian lamb fur vest for a little extra interest and warmth.
I love giving gifts. If I win the Powerball record jackpot tonight I'm going to turn into an elf and buy presents for everyone I can think of! Although, I haven't bought a ticket, so that could hinder my chances. My point is, I'd love to be able to give extravagant gifts to all my friends and family, but I can't. Luckily, I have a good eye, and I get really excited when I find something that would just be FABULOUS for (insert name here). That's why I'm sharing my finds with you this holiday season. I may not be Oprah, but I have a list of my favorite things that I hope you'll enjoy, too. I'll be bringing them to periodically over the next few weeks. So today I'm showing you a great gift for absolutely any women. It includes two of the best things in the world: wine and makeup. I promise you, any lady on your list will be happy to get this one, and it's only 30 bucks! Powerball, Schmowerball.
Hear that click, click, clicking? It can only mean one thing....ahhh... cyber Monday! With so many great deals, where do you even start? Well, here's one tip I learned today: you should not be paying for shipping on ANY website today. If they are charging- go somewhere else. I did use this day of deals to buy a couple of gifts, and perhaps a pair of boots for myself, but I'm also thinking outside the box! I need a dress for my upcoming Holiday work party, but instead of buying a mediocre black dress that is going to take up my oh-so-precious closet space, I've decided to rent one from my fab friends over at Rent the Runway. Not only can you rent an amazing designer dress, but, since it's cyber Monday you can get 20% off your rental and a free lip gloss- just use code "cyber2012"! Perfection! I also love how in addition to models, RTR is now having renters upload their pics, so you can see what the dresses look like on real people. Now I just need your help deciding which dress to pick! Which one do you like best?
A couple outfits I've talked about before are resurfacing- so here are some updates.
I originally wrote about this dress when it was on Gossip Girl, and now the lovely Giada was seen (looking perfect) wearing it on the Today Show. Check out original post here for buying info and a good look-a-like option. Click on the pic above to watch Giada make Thanksgiving dinner!
This outfit was in this week's episode of Gossip Girl. If you are still on a perfect boot hunt (OK, I am talking ab myself!) Check out my original post with some of the options I found for less!
Finding a great sweater is a rarity. Finding a great sweater that doesn't cost hundreds (or thousands- eep!) of dollars is like discovering the meaning of life. I kid (kind of), but for a New England girl whose only hope of looking chic during the winter is such a piece of knitwear, I always get excited to find something that won't make me look like I'm preparing for hibernation. An Alexander McQueen sweater would do nicely, natch, but finding one that is hundreds of dollars less will work too.
BCBG Maylin Cabled Turtleneck sweater. Currently on sale on Gilt for a *limited* time in limited sizing.
Thanks to a more hectic than usual schedule and a couple of major weather events, my work week wardrobe has been a little uninspired. I decided now is a good time to break out the secret weapon: my sassy pants. Have you ever bought something just because you love it, but have no idea when you'll wear it? That's kind of how I feel about these pants. Was a random November day at work the big debut I was hoping for? Probably not, but it needed to be done. If you're having a dull month (as November can so often be until turkey time) I encourage you to break out your sassy pants and turn things around.

Outfit in action on The Rhode Show!
Days like today there is nothing I'd like to do more than stay in my sweatpants. Truthfully, I just might. But in case that's not an option, I'm rounding up some cozy sweaters that will make you feel like you never left the couch!
Few things make me happier than a good sale or a day of beauty, so you can imagine my elation while shopping at Nordstrom over the weekend. It's the department store's half-yearly sale (for women & kids) and it is well worth a stop! This time of year, I'm constantly hunting down a cozy-chic sweater, which is so much harder than it sounds. I not only found one that fit the bill, but several other cold weather essentials- for about 40% off. A polka dot button-down, a plaid trimmed blazer (not on website- worth a trip to the brick & mortar!), not to mention beauty deals! There was so much to buy- I didn't even have time visit the shoe department! Looks like I'm going to have to go back for round two! Check out a couple of my sale scores below.
