Some people do drugs, sky-dive, get tattoos or gamble. Me? I shop. To me, finding a great deal is the greatest thrill, but the other day I upped the ante. For what I believe to be the first time ever, I bought a final sale dress, that I've never tried on, online. What would possess me to play such a game of fashion roulette? Well, the payoff is an amazing deal on an adorable Milly dress. One of my fave sites, Rent The Runway, is having their clearance event. You can buy high-end (and I do mean high) designer dresses for a fraction of the cost. RTR is already known for amazing rentable dresses for special occasions at a great price, but this clearance event is genius! Even though the dresses are previously worn, you know the quality will be great because of RTR's reputation and phenomenonal customer service. And, because all the dresses already have reviews, ratings, styling tips, and user photos online, you can do your research before clicking "purchase". The cost was already low, but with my credits, I was able to snag the dress fro about $60. Talk about a high!
Hooray- It's February! That means we are getting closer to spring, my upcoming trip to New Orleans for a friend's wedding, and of course Valentine's day. And speaking of hearts, February is also heart health month! It kicks off today with the annual Go Red for women campaign. I am proudly sporting my red apparel, with proceeds of this nationwide event going to the American Heart Association. What else I love about this cause? An excuse to shop (as if I needed one)! Macy's has teamed up with the American Heart Association, and is having a "wear red sale". You get a discount and help support The American Heart Association. Just enter code "RED" at online checkout! Take a look at the dress I wore today below, and check out some other red options here!

Today marks the kick off of StyleWeek Northeast. Established in 2009, the runway shows have become a twice-yearly staple in Rhode Island, and expanding. I'm proud to say I, and The Rhode Show, have been involved with StyleWeek since it's incarnation, and I'm honored to be one of the judges for "Red on the Runway". The event, which partners designers with heart disease survivors, benefits The American Heart Association. What could be more stylish than that? "Red on the Runway" is just one of many shows and events happening during this week-long celebration of fashion. More than a dozen up and coming designers will show collections, including Project Runway alum (and all around great guy) Jonathan Joseph Peters, as well as regional favorites and StyleWeek staples Sarah Prost, Jessica Abernathy, Maria Del Carmen Mercado and Kara Wickman- just to name a few! I'll even be wearing some of their designs throughout the week! I'll also be drinking mass amounts of coffee and chewing gum in an attempt to avoid eating. I kid, I kid. This season, there will be a first of its kind runway show from accessory designer Kent Stetson. Buckle your seat belts, I've heard he has some tricks up his sleeve! Tickets are still available for many of the shows, and each cocktail hour featuring an accessory showcase, where you can sip, shop, and buy, is open to the public. More info here. Let the games begin!

Few things make me happier than a good sale or a day of beauty, so you can imagine my elation while shopping at Nordstrom over the weekend. It's the department store's half-yearly sale (for women & kids) and it is well worth a stop! This time of year, I'm constantly hunting down a cozy-chic sweater, which is so much harder than it sounds. I not only found one that fit the bill, but several other cold weather essentials- for about 40% off. A polka dot button-down, a plaid trimmed blazer (not on website- worth a trip to the brick & mortar!), not to mention beauty deals! There was so much to buy- I didn't even have time visit the shoe department! Looks like I'm going to have to go back for round two! Check out a couple of my sale scores below.
One of my very favorite people, Nicole Richie, is taking her trendy/bohemian style to the masses! In a collaboration with Macy's the designer has created a lust-worthy limited collection at reasonable price points! From studded leggings to feminine dresses these looks really run the gamut! My favorites are the faux-leather ensems... on-trend and on budget! Here are some of my favorite looks below!
Check out this segment we did on The Rhode Show - previewing some of Nicole Richie's Macy's looks! You can see them better than in the pictures!
Good lord those Pretty Little Liars sure are well dressed for high school students! I mean, should we be taking fashion advice from people who are supposed to be, like, 16 yearS old? Well, I am. I am obsessed with Hanna's jeans from this past episode. As a loyal "jeans girl" this is an easy way to make an outfit edgy and trendy. Add a basic top and some big earrings and you are good to go!

Have you recovered yet from those darn neighbor kids setting off fireworks near your yard? Oh come on, don't act like you didn't complain! Since, the holiday fell mid-week this year, I've decided to continue celebrating until Sunday, and I'm not alone! Some of Hollywood's finest broke out their patriotic apparel throughout the week. The stars donned their stars to celebrate our Independence. Jessica Simpson, Miley Cyrus and Alessandra Ambrosio were all seen sporting this star-spangled sweater by Wildfox Couture. So... who wore it best?? You decide...or wear it yourself!

Fourth of July is quite possibly my favorite day of the year. Aside from loving any reason to have s'mores, it's also my birthday. Yup- I'm a yankee doodle dandy (what does that even mean?)! Anyway, I look forward to the day each year, and yes, I like to dress in red, white and blue to celebrate! This started many moons ago, when at the tender age of 11, I found the most amazing pair of denim cut-offs ever created! I got them at "Limited, Too" now known to our nation's youth as "Justice" (shameful) and they had the imprint of a flag painted on them. I was practically iconic in them! Except for the fact that I had a perm and I had yet to grow into my nose. Regardless, ever since then I've literally dreamed of these shorts! Fast forward to a few months ago, when I found a virtually identical (adult) pair online at Topshop. I kept holding off on buying them 1)because they weren't cheap and 2) they were described as "hot pants" on the website. Red flag. Then, just last week, I was lollygagging around Target, when one of their seasonal end displays caught my eye. Freakin' flag shorts! I basically skipped over, grabbed a couple pairs to try on, and settled on the darker denim pair. Who knew a simple pair of shorts could bring so much joy?! Oh, I forgot to mention they are only $18 and come in two different patriotic prints. God Bless America!
Do you guys remember that time i met Nicole Richie? If you don't a)shame on you b) you can refresh your memory here! Anyway, I think I was majorly inspired by Nic's boho vibe, because I recently purchased an armful of tunics. I can't really explain why, I've just been gravitating to the tunic style for weeks now. I can't get enough! I have long-sleeved, short-sleeved, embellished, printed, plain, colorful- and more! They just seem like the perfect thing to thrown on for any occasion from a beach day to a s'mores party (yes that's a thing). I've been scooping most of mine up at consignment shops and online flash sales but there is an abundance to choose from out there- so let my close personal friend Nicole Richie inspire you this summer, too!
The inspiration: a model at Nicole Richie's in-store fashion show at National Jean Company. Model in Winter Kate Devi Bed Jacket. PS- I just ordered this on Gilt Group (available for the rest of today only)!
Few things make me happier than finding a score. That rush you feel when you spot something you love on sale? Meant to be! Now that the official start of summer is just days away, it's time to refresh that wardrobe, so you can be easy and breezy all summer long. Fortunately, there are also tons of sales going on...so what are you waiting for? Treat yourself!
