Celebrating the small moments

Collectively this year has taught us a lot. For one, stock up on toilet paper! Who knew? But more than that, I think most of us can say we've learned to appreciate things more than we may have in the past. Maybe it's looking for silver linings in situations we would have previously just complained about. Perhaps you've learned to be more resilient when faced with struggles. Or maybe it's getting out of bed and putting on something other than sweatpants. Whatever the case, those are all things to celebrate. It's in that philosophy that lifestyle brand Air and Anchor was created. A husband and wife team, faced with daily chaos, realized these normal, every day occurrences were something to enjoy and savor. They took those "moments in between" and turned them into the inspiration for their products. Thoughtful jewelry for both men and women, blankets designed to be taken on adventures, serving boards constructed by vulnerable members of the community, and apparel reminding you to appreciate the small moments. If the message weren't enough, all of the items are ethically sourced, environmentally conscious, and made in lil' Rhody. Oh, and did I mention, gorgeous? I had the chance to catch up with co-creators, Rachel and Omar, on The Rhode Show about the brand, and some of their favorite gift items for the holiday season! Check out the video below!

12 Days of giveaways!

I blame Oprah. You remember it. Sitting on your couch, settling in for an hour, knowing that this was it. THIS was the big "favorite things" episode! Arguably the best hour of television produced each year, as Queen O gave aways thousands (millions?) of dollars worth of her favorite gift items of the season. Cashmere sweaters, the latest tech gear, anything truffle flavored, oh and, um, cars! You name it, Oprah was giving it away. So, I blame Oprah for my penchant to gift, and gift hard. In fairness, it may not be entirely her fault. I've always loved shopping, so I guess it's partially on me. Regardless, I want to bring a little giveaway magic back, so I've decided to do my own "12 Days of Giveaways"! Beginning today, I will reveal a new giveaway each day for anyone who places an order with me for BeautyCounter. We're talking discounts, free shipping, favorite stocking stuffers, and even band of beauty memberships! Check my social media each morning to see what the deal of the day is, place an order through my website (or message me directly), choose the "Twelve Days of Giveaways" pop-up at checkout, and that's it! To kick things off, I've started with one of my favorites- lip gloss! Anyone who places an order today of at least $50 will get a free jelly! They are the cutest, juiciest, must-have for your handbag, car, or even to drop in someone else's stocking! It may not be a car (she literally gave away VW bugs one year!) but, I hope this spreads a little cheer while you're online shopping, and staying safely home! Happy shopping!

Makeup Merriment

It seems like the holiday season is starting earlier than ever this year, and I am all for it! I've been decorating, putting up my little tree, listening to Christmas music, and watching Hallmark movies waaaay before Thanksgiving for years now! I welcome everyone who is just now realizing how joyful it is! In a year that has thrown, um...well, a lot, at us I think we've all just decided we "need a little Christmas right this very minute". Of course, you can't talk about festive fun without mentioning shopping! Or at least, I can't. However, in the midst of a pandemic, the black Friday shopping, hustle and bustle, and overall in-person merriment has pivoted to online. I've made no apologies for my extreme love of shopping. And I do mean extreme! It's what I turn to when I'm happy, sad, bored, inspired, and basically every emotion in between. So while I'm pretty bummed I can't spend every waking hour over the next few weeks visiting stores in person (my favorite!), I will absolutely make the best of the season in any way I can. That's why this Sunday I am hosting a facebook live event with my friend, Eliza, to share some of our favorite Beautycounter products for the season! Pre-Covid, we would host an event like this in-person with cocktails, spa products, and laughter. Well, we can still do that, just in a different way. Bring your own cup of cheer, and chill on your couch, while we bring the gift inspo right to your living room! In many ways this is probably even better than what we're used to! You can don your comfiest loungewear, or wear a ball gown- whatever makes you happy! And you'll be able to instantly shop! See something you want? All you have to do is say it, and we'll take care of placing the order for you. But, most importantly, it's a chance to connect a little while staying safely in our own spaces. Buy that one perfect gift, buy some self care for yourself, or buy nothing at all. We don't care, we just want to have some fun and get into the spirits! Oops, sorry, I mean, spirit- but hey, it's 2020, anything goes.

Celebrating a decade of style

Paris, New York, London, Milan...Providence? Ten years ago you may not have thought so, but now, Providence is decidedly on the fashion map thanks to StyleWeek. Inspired by those aforementioned fashion capitals, StyleWeek is a professional production that focuses on the business of fashion, as well as promoting art and design. Founded in 2009 by Rosanna Ortiz, this fashion week has become New England's premiere fashion event, showcasing nearly 200 designers over the years from the U.S. and beyond. Yes, all that in lil' Rhody. Glamorous as it is (& it IS!), this is much more than just a fun party. StyleWeek was created to serve as an incubator for designers, while generating an economic spark in Rhode Island. As StyleWeek progressed, it came to include working with local schools for its design competition, "SEED", where students create wearable art. It's in that sentiment that StyleWeek celebrated a decade this year. What was supposed to be an elaborate affair, was scaled back to comply with CDC guidance for the pandemic, but the heart of StyleWeek was still felt. An intimate, invite-only, outdoor runway show was held, featuring local elementary school students and their out-of-the-box designs. It was only fitting that the evening culminated with an avant garde show from acclaimed handbag designer, Kent Stetson, who has been a part of StyleWeek since the beginning.

The fashion world is evolving, now more than ever, but StyleWeek continues to evolve and push the limits, to adapt to the current climate. As I've said before I'm no fashion expert, I'm a fan. I feel very fortunate to have, quite literally, a front row seat to an event that not only celebrates art and culture, but simultaneously boosts the local economy. Here's to you, StyleWeek, and the next decade ahead!

allow me to reintroduce myself

Picture
If you're silently running through Jay Z's "Public Service Announcement" lyrics, then you're in the right place. My name is Ashley, and this is "Wears It From"! I started this blog many moons again after becoming obsessed with hunting down fashion I saw on TV shows. Add to that my love of writing and shopping, and "Wears It From" was born! Aptly named as I would always ask people about their outfits by asking "Where's it from?". See what I did there? Yea, clever- I know! But, I have a real job, too, and as I needed to dedicate more time to that, I had to temporarily let the #WearsItFrom updates go. I never let go of the website though; I always knew it would make a comeback.

So here we are! I am still TV obsessed. In fact, it's my actual job! I'm the executive producer of "The Rhode Show", a lifestyle show in Rhode Island, as well as the director of local content for the CBS affiliate, WPRI 12. So yea, TV and pop culture are my life! As social media has progressed, I've parlayed that and my love of all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle into bringing back the blog. You'll be seeing fashion finds, beauty favorites, as well as travel and lifestyle experiences.  I'm as eager as ever to curate content! As a curious citizen of the world, I've always been excited about sharing experiences with others, so I look forward to engaging WITH you. You can find me on social media @aerling - drop me a line and say hi & let me know what content you'd like to see!
