Emmy shmemmy! It's time to talk red carpet fashion! Overall, I thought the night was pretty tame- dare I say...boring?? But, there were a few dresses that, IMHO, knocked it out of the park. Watch the clip below to see me, mom blogger Audrey McClelland and Personal Stylist Jill Marinelli talk about some of our faves and flops from the night on The Rhode Show. Scroll down further to see some others I loved- but didn't have time to talk about! Which dresses were your favorite?

Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang
Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Monique Lhuillier

Julie Bowen also in Zac Posen
Stop it. Remember a few weeks ago when I told you about H&M offering online shopping?? This *might* be even better! T.J. Maxx has now opened up their e-commerce store! It was a quiet launch, with no announcement, but trust me- it's there! I heard that this was in the works a few weeks ago, but didn't get my hopes up for a couple of reasons. 1) What you find in stores is so hit or miss that you can't really rely on it 2) I love the thrill of the hunt! Finding that lone designer dress packed in the middle of mediocre clearance brands is a high I can't put into words. However, after perusing the site, I'm over the moon! All the high-end designer brands are there, so if you aren't fortunate enough to live near a T.J.'s with "The Runway"... consider this your new favorite store. For me, this will be a nice additive to my brick & mortar shopping, since I'm a huge fan of trying things on. But maybe now I won't feel the need to be quite as impulsive when purchasing. After all, I'm still paying off the gorj "Vince" sweater I put on layaway a couple weeks ago. Shop on, Maxxinistas!
Now that it's Labor Day- am I sad summer is more or less over? Yes. But you can only wear a maxi dress so many days in a row without feeling uninspired. While I await the full on chunky knits weather, I'm happy to start getting creative with my clothes again. That's right ladies, it's layering season! So, as you say so long to summer- say hello to some of the outerwear trends you'll be seeing this season.
Not for everyone, but varsity jackets are everywhere. If your mom didn't hoard yours in the closet since high school, try picking up one that's a little more discreet. Also love this one.
I'm so into vests right now; they may warrant their own post later on this season. There are a few ways to do them. Love a utilitarian look or go edgier with leather. The one above is a nice mix of both.
There are some really amazing drape front cardigans out there, but they can actually be quite expensive. I was inspired by this one from Alice + Olivia but am still trying to find a cheaper version that I adore. My best advice for this fall staple is to hit up your local TJ Maxx- they usually have a good supply.
Moto jackets are still huge for fall, and perfect for layering. This Mossimo one has a great price point.
After seeing some of the most beautiful weather we've had all summer over the weekend, it's kind of hard to accept but, fall fashion is here. OK, so it may not be time to break out my new mixed-media trench that's been hanging in my closet for at least a month already, but it never hurts to look ahead to some of the trends you'll be seeing the moment they break out the pumpkin spice lattes (admit it!). It's also StyleWeek in Rhode Island, which is the perfect inspiration for updating my closet. Though, technically, the designs being shown on the runway this week are spring 2014, in fashion, you can never be quite cutting edge enough! I couldn't keep my eyes off the cool crocodile patterns shown during the "Chances R Designs" runway show by Toni Lyn. You already know the classic pattern is a staple for belts and purses (like my FAVE Brahmin bag!) but now you'll be seeing it for apparel, too. Whether actual leather, or just the print, it's somehow both a timeless and edgy way to incorporate some cool staples into your closet.

Traditionally, I'm more a fan of Hannah's style on PLL, but since she's been in sweats crying all season, Aria's been having some standout pieces. Her leather cutout dress caught my eye this week. Yes, leather is still hugely hanging around for fall, and this very inexpensive dress is a great way to get on the trend train courtesy of, who else, Nordstrom. I've been writing way too much ab Nordy's lately, but for the record, they do not endorse me in anyway, I just really love them. So much so, that my bank called me about some suspicious transactions on my account with them. Of course, I called back and told them that, no, those purchases are all me. Oops.

Let's be honest, I get alot of emails about shopping. My inbox is filled with sale alerts, trend-watches and product launches. So much so, that I rarely read all said emails- even the ones I really like (I'm talking to you, "Who, What, Wear")! For some reason one caught my eye the other day titled "Escape to the Hamptons". Maybe I'm still on a Hamptons high from Super Saturday or maybe I need a vacation, but I was dying to know what was inside! What I found were some road-trip-esque snapshots accompanied by suggestions on what to pack for a weekend away, and I was happy to see Boston-based designer Daniela Corte in the pack! The email came from the website "Shoptiques"; a site that brings the "boutique shopping experience online". Created with the thought that everyone should have access to unique and expressive apparel, they boast boutique styles from New York to LA and will soon be expanding to international territory. I absolutely love the idea that I can get up-and-coming designers without even leaving my zip code! Now about that vacation...
This morning I woke up to the most beautiful sight I've seen in a while, and no, I'm not talking about the hot air balloon I watched hover over the ocean at dawn- although that was lovely. What I am talking about is the H&M homepage that proudly and poetically proclaims "Shop Online". I have literally waited YEARS for this to happen. I remember a particular twitter correspondence with the affordable and on-trend apparel store a couple years ago where I whined to management (interns?) about my deep need for online shopping. I'd like to believe I played a part in this triumphant, life-altering consumer shift, but I imagine many of you did as well. So let's all celebrate together today and buy some drop-crotch pants and midriff baring tops from the comfort of our couches... all with one click!
If somebody were to ask me "what is your perfect day?", I would say "shopping, while sipping cocktails and spotting celebrities." Amazingly, this is exactly what I did over the weekend. And this wasn't just any shopping...this was designer discount shopping! Heaven. So what am I talking about? OCRF's celeb-studded Super Saturday event. Hosts Kelly Ripa, Donna Karan and InStyle rolled out the red carpet for us commoners and celebs alike for the 16th annual fundraising event in the Hamptons. Everyone from Nicky Hilton and Lisa Rinna to Issac Mizrahi were there perusing booths of discounted clothing, beauty products, home goods and more- all benefiting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Being a savvy (read: cheap) shopper, I was in my glory as prices were slashed as the day went on. My major score? A DVF dress that I ended up getting for $50! Like, what? A fab and fashionable time was had by all!

Fashionable friends- getting our shop on
Some people do drugs, sky-dive, get tattoos or gamble. Me? I shop. To me, finding a great deal is the greatest thrill, but the other day I upped the ante. For what I believe to be the first time ever, I bought a final sale dress, that I've never tried on, online. What would possess me to play such a game of fashion roulette? Well, the payoff is an amazing deal on an adorable Milly dress. One of my fave sites, Rent The Runway, is having their clearance event. You can buy high-end (and I do mean high) designer dresses for a fraction of the cost. RTR is already known for amazing rentable dresses for special occasions at a great price, but this clearance event is genius! Even though the dresses are previously worn, you know the quality will be great because of RTR's reputation and phenomenonal customer service. And, because all the dresses already have reviews, ratings, styling tips, and user photos online, you can do your research before clicking "purchase". The cost was already low, but with my credits, I was able to snag the dress fro about $60. Talk about a high!
As If you didn't know I was going to post about this sweater. It's not even that I love it, but I love what it represents. Wildfox has been on point lately ("shopping is my cardio"), with another winner in Aria's sweater from this week's "Pretty Little Liars" episode. Cher would be proud. Also, how obsessed are you with Caleb and Toby teaming up?? #Caloby
